About Us

Mehfil-e-Sama’a is a Delhi based Sufi-Hindustani classical music ensemble mostly comprised of artists from Kerala who is settled in Delhi. It has already performed in 200+ stages across India and abroad.

GENRE:

Mehfil-e-Sama’a performs genres like Sufi, Qawwali, Ghazals and Hindustani classical music. The troop has artists who have learned and experienced classical music in good depth.

HISTORY:

Mehfil-e-Sama’a was formed in December 2015 at Jamia Nagar, Delhi when Jawed Aslam and Irfan Erooth came together with the idea of making a Sufi music troop which was not popular among the youth. Mehfil-e-Sama’a 's debut performance was at Jawaharlal Nehru University at New Delhi on the same month. Starting from then, Mehfil-e-Sama’a performed in different cities including New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Kochi, Trivandrum, Lakshadweep Islands and very soon at Hyderabad and Kolkota. 

PLAYLIST:

Mehfil-e-Sama’a ‘s playlist includes authentic handpicked Qawwalis and Sufiyana Ghazals by legendary artists like Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sabri Brothers, Abida Parveen, Ustad Aziz Nazan, A.R Rahman, Adnan Sami, Pankaj Udhas, Mehdi Hassan and so on.

The playlist for each concert are not decided forehand, they are mostly selected at the venue according to the audience’s mood, likes and dislikes.
